About the Author

Margaret Cotts is an Assistive Technology Specialist with over 10 years of experience providing augmentative communication services to people with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Margaret provided AAC services at the
ALS Treatment and Research Center at UCSF, a multi-disciplinary clinic and research center. In addition, she co-managed the Bay Area ALSA AAC equipment loan library for 8 years.

Margaret’s turn-ons include long walks on the beach and adapted laser pointers. Turn-offs include people who speak LOUDLY and s-l-o-w-l-y to folks who have a speech disability.

Margaret holds a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Engineering Technology from San Francisco State University. She was a longstanding member of RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America.)
